Episode 25: Eric Seaborg and Ellen Dudley

Eric Seaborg is a freelance writer and editor whose writing has ranged from hiking to travel to medicine to nuclear science. He and Ellen Dudley were members of the three-person team that scouted the route for the coast-to-coast American Discovery Trail in 1990-1991. They co-wrote a book about their experiences scouting the country’s first and only non-motorized transcontinental trail, and they have been working ever since to develop the trail with the volunteer-based American Discovery Trail Society. Eric’s other co-written books are a how-to guide on hiking and backpacking and his Nobel-prize winning father’s autobiography, Adventures in the Atomic Age.

Ellen Dudley is first and foremost a mom and grandmother to her treasured and remarkable children and grandchildren. Over her lifetime, she has developed quite a wide ranging career that all started with a degree in philosophy. Ellen’s accomplishments have included being the, senior policy staff and media director for the Union of Concerned Scientists, author of one book (The Savvy Adventure Traveler) and co-author with Eric Seaborg for two books (American Discoveries and Hiking and Backpacking), freelance writer for The Washington Post and adjunct professor for the Johns Hopkins University graduate school.
